Short Description:
For a profitable monitoring of displacements or distorsions, 10 mobile stations were installed along the structure. Twp reference statons have been installed on the ground, one in the harbour area and the other at the University of Genova. Considering the particular environmental conditions (sea environment saltiness, strong stormy sea) the mobile stations have been protected with external boxes. The GPS antennas have covered with little Plexiglas domes and panels have been fixed with some steel bearings. The communication between mobile stations and control station is guaranteed a GSM connection. The reference stations are located on the roofs of two buildings from a max distance of 4 Km from the measuring stations. The mobile stations heve been connected directly to the power supply.
Aims of monitoring:
The project aim is to monitor the harbour to control the movements in the three directions to documents all the not standard structural movements. This is necessary to prevent all the unwanted movements that could demage the structure. So the objecive of the monitoring structure is to monitor the harbour during the reinforcement work..
