The 1154 SPS12 includes a 7 A-h sealed lead-acid storage battery and solar charge controller installed in a NEMA 4X weatherproof enclosure for mounting to the side of a pole or a vertical surface. A 12-Watt Solar Panel is also included with a universal mounting kit. It is designed for supplying low power 12Vdc loads, typically averaging 20 mA or less, while providing low source impedance for larger intermittent load transients such as those occuring during radio transmissions of field telemetry equipment. The SPS12 is a standard sub-system of Geomation i/oXPAKs, which have an average power consumption of a few milliamps at 12V for most I/O configurations. Due to the compact enclosure containing the battery and charge controller, a solar panel larger than 24-Watts should not be used with this package because of reduced heat dissipation. The Model 1159 Open Frame Power System Controller is available for use in larger enclosures (Geomation EN Series) with larger solar panels.
The SPS12 is supplied with both hose clamps and screws to accommodate different mounting requirements.
