Courte description:
Baiersdorf bridge is situated on Main-Danube Canal, near Norimberg, Germany. It consists of two girders and the deck. The bridge is 56 meters long and 9 meters large.
Objectifs de contrôle:
The aim of monitoring is to increase the knowledge concerning the structural behaviour of this bridge, to increase safety and reduce maintenance costs. In the 1990 during the Load-carrying test for the Safety Evaluation some cracks occurred in the middle of the bridge. 6 standard SOFO sensors and 4 thermocouple had been installed in order to periodically monitor the condition of the structure.

All the sensors had been installed on the surface of the girders and they are working properly. After the installation a loading test with a truck had been performed successfully.
Periodical reading are performed in long-term in order to discover deviations from the expected structural performance or damage in time.
